Preparing to move to Yucatan

Its the day before Christmas Eve and I am up late thinking about our move to Merida.  The plan is this: Chelsea and I get on a plane on January 6th, headed for Cancun, where we will catch a bus for the four hour ride to Merida.  Then we search for a house to rent (in the beautiful Centro Historico) and a car to buy.  We'll be there for a year, while I do my thesis research in Tzucacáb, Yucatan.  It's the town in the southern tip of Yucatan State where I've been going for a few years, and the town where I take the Alternative Spring Break trip from UC Santa Cruz.   For more on my research there, check back for another post.  Its a hard question to answer.  Meanwhile, Chelsea will be living with me, painting, and working on her fantastic new food blog Picture and Plate.
From now through the holidays we have two huge duffel bags sharing our floor space at Chelsea's mom's house and a lot of friends to see before we go.  Drop us a line!
